Metal Casting

rollover furnaceInvestacast Ltd use electric induction-melting rollover furnaces for casting steel. The exact amount of metal required to fill each casting mould is weighed and added to the furnace.

Cast mould weights of up to 35Kg are cast in steel.

A temperature probe is used to ensure the molten metal is at the correct temperature for casting (e.g. steel 1500-1650°C).

investment casting treeCasting moulds are pre-heated in a kiln to just below the pouring temperature for the metal, transferred by hand to the furnace and clamped in place. The furnace is then 'rolled over' filling the mould with molten metal.

Castings are allowed to air cool (above) after which the ceramic mould material is removed and the castings processed for finishing.

Aluminium alloys up to 10Kg are cast at Investacast as are Copper and Nickel based alloys.
